The European Committee of the Regions (CoR) is preparing an Opinion More than funding: local and regional authorities mobilising public and private resources for an effective follow-up on the Clean Transition Dialogues, led by rapporteur Åsa ÅGREN WIKSTRÖM (SE/EPP), Regional Councillor, Region of Västerbotten.
In this framework, the CoR is organizing a stakeholders' consultation on 30 January 2025 from 14.30 to 17.00 CET. You will find the draft agenda of the event here.
This event will provide the rapporteur with inputs to support the preparation of the draft opinion and will be split into two roundtables:
ROUNDTABLE I - FROM PUBLIC FUNDS TO INNOVATIVE FINANCING SCHEMES
This roundtable will explore examples of how local and regional authorities utilize public funds, innovative financing schemes, and a combination of both to develop investment plans and accelerate project implementation on the ground. The session will address the main challenges faced by local and regional authorities in leveraging private investments. Additionally, it will highlight key lessons learned from technical assistance facilities and similar supporting instruments.
ROUNDTABLE II - CITIES, REGIONS AND BUSINESSES WORKING TOGETHER
This roundtable will showcase examples of local and regional authorities collaborating with businesses and other local actors to implement projects on the ground. The session will examine key successes, lessons learned, and barriers that hinder these cooperation models.
The calendar of the opinion is the following:
- Adoption by the ENVE commission on 5 May
- Adoption by CoR Plenary on 2-3 July
