Principal's Message:

Hello Bull Run families,

A full week of school?!  Even though the kids (and staff) may be tired, all put their best foot forward and jumped back into the routine!

Last night, the PTA and Mathnasium hosted our Math Night.  It was awesome to see so many entertaining mathematics activities that families can do at home together.  Learning and fun! See some pictures below from the event. We will definitely be bringing this back next year!

Next week we are off from school on Monday in honor of Martin Luther King Jr., but we will see everyone back again on Tuesday.  Mrs. Campbell, Mrs. Rozzoni and I will be touching base with students about Charger STRONG expectations, now that they have had a week back in school with their teachers and have re-established their class rules.

REMINDERS:

Tomorrow, Friday 01/17, is Bull Run Spirit Day! Students and staff are encouraged to wear blue and white or Spirit Wear.

If you are able, head over to Texas Roadhouse tonight between 5:00pm and 9:00pm (see flyer below).  10% of all food sales will benefit the Bull Run PTA.

Our sock fundraiser is still going on- Please fill out the ORDER FORM that was also sent home and send in payment by Tuesday, January 21st *please ask your child's teacher for a new form if you need one (it also linked above)*

Have a wonderful weekend!

School Year Calendar

Be sure to bookmark the FCPS school year calendar to keep track of school holidays, breaks, and observances.

  • Days marked with blue Hs are student holidays.
  • Days marked with orange Os are religious and cultural observance days (or evenings if only half marked).
  • Days marked in pink are holidays for students, but working days for teachers and staff.

The Islamic calendar is a lunar calendar, and the start of each month coincides with the birth of a new moon. The date of Eid a-Fitr is regionally decided, which can lead to unexpected date changes. Eid al-Fitr is currently slated to begin at sundown on Sunday, March 30, 2025, and lasts through sundown Monday, March 31, 2025. Monday is a holiday, with all schools and offices being closed. If the day for Eid changes after the school year begins, the calendar may be adjusted.

Sixth Grade Working Conditions Survey Participation

Bull Run, in cooperation with the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services and the Virginia Department of Education, is conducting the Virginia School Survey of Climate and Working Conditions. We will survey students in 6th grade, as well as classroom teachers. The purpose of the survey is to measure student support, student engagement, school discipline, and safety conditions in each school. This information will be used to guide educational practices that produce a safe and supportive school environment.

The student survey will be completed at Bull Run between January 21 - January 24 (note- this is a change due to snow days). The survey does not ask for your child’s name and all answers are anonymous. No one, including teachers and administrators, will know how your child answered the survey questions. You will not have access to your child’s survey answers. You may preview the questions asked in the student survey at this website: https://tinyurl.com/VaSchoolSurvey.

The survey will ask questions such as how students feel about their school, how students get along with one another and their teachers, how students feel about school rules, and their perceptions of their teachers’ willingness to help them. Please note that there are questions about topics that may be sensitive to some, including questions about bullying, mental health, and suicide. This is a great time to talk to your child about these important issues. For guidance and more resources on these topics, please see https://tinyurl.com/MentalHealthdcjs or  https://tinyurl.com/VDOEstudentservices.

The survey is voluntary and you and/or your child can decide they prefer not to participate. No action will be taken against you, your child, or the school if your child does not participate. If you do not wish for your child to participate, please complete this Google form or email Assistant Principal, Ms. Leslie Rozzoni (lerozzoni@fcps.edu) with your student’s name, student ID number, and teacher’s name by Friday, January 17.

You can find survey results for your school and division here: https://tinyurl.com/VaSchoolSurvey

Thank you for your cooperation in this important study of Virginia’s schools.
