Dear Beech Tree Families,
We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who joined us for our Thanksgiving Luncheon and Curriculum Night on Thursday, November 21st. The day was a memorable one, filled with celebration and community. Our students thoroughly enjoyed the Thanksgiving feast, which featured traditional favorites like turkey, creamy mashed potatoes with savory gravy, and crisp green beans. It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces enjoying the meal together.
Curriculum Night was conducted yesterday evening, as families and students explored engaging stations that highlighted reading and math strategies. These interactive activities, thoughtfully designed by our dedicated teachers, focused on equipping families with tools to support learning at home while showcasing our emphasis on developing students’ Portrait of a Graduate skills. Additionally, teachers shared valuable strategies to support students’ social-emotional learning, emphasizing the importance of building resilience, managing emotions, and fostering positive relationships both in and out of the classroom. The power of collaboration between school and home is vital to fostering academic success and well-rounded student development.
Additionally, on Friday our 5th-grade students had an exciting field trip to the Science Museum of Virginia in Richmond. Traveling on comfortable chartered buses, they enjoyed a day filled with hands-on learning and interactive exhibits that explored science, technology, and innovation. The trip offered an opportunity for students to extend their classroom learning into real-world applications, fostering curiosity and collaboration. It was a memorable experience that sparked excitement about STEM and the possibilities it offers our students as we lay foundations for their career endeavors!
As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, I want to take a moment to reflect on the greatness of our school community. Your continued partnership and support in your child’s education make all the difference, and we are truly thankful for the trust you place in us to guide their learning journey.
Please note that our school will be closed from Wednesday, November 27th, through Friday, November 29th, in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. Classes will resume on Monday, December 2nd. We wish you and your family a joyful and restful Thanksgiving filled with love, gratitude, and cherished moments.
Thank you for being an integral part of our school family!
With appreciation,
Principal Clarke
