Help Support our Woodson Families in Need During the Holidays

Grocery giftcards needed for Families in need

Thank you all for helping stock our Cav Cupboard during the month of September. Thanks to your generosity, we are able to provide snacks for students during the school day and groceries for our families.

As the holidays approach, we’re reaching out with one last request. In close partnership with school counselors, we’re providing families in need with grocery gifts cards for the Thanksgiving and winter break. Please find more information below including a link to donate directly. Thank you!

We are collecting donations between now and December 6th and there are three ways you can help:

  • Donate directly to the PTSO grocery gift card drive via PayPal. Please add 'grocery gift card drive' in the notes.
  • Purchase and drop off gifts cards to local grocery stores (Safeway, Giant, Walmart, Target) in amounts ranging from $10 to $25 and drop them off in the front office (please give to Jackie O’Brien, clearly labeled with 'PTSO Family Support').

The All Night Grad Party NEEDS YOU!

Every year, Woodson celebrates our graduates with a drug and alcohol free all night party to keep our teens off the roads and safe. It’s a Cavalier tradition that freshman, sophomore, and junior parents organize the event to “pay it forward” for when their own kids are celebrating. But this fabulous event can’t happen without a planning committee!

Can you help? Email woodsonangp@gmail.com to volunteer or find out more!

Last Call for Federal Impact Aid Forms

Reminder - Impact Aid Forms are still available in SIS ParentVUE!

FCPS is asking all families to fill out a Federal Impact Aid Survey. The form is available in SIS ParentVUE under Online Packets (in the upper right corner after logging in). Please complete it as soon as possible.

Completing this form for each school-aged child in every household is important. Information from this survey resulted in more than $4 million in funding last year from the U.S. Department of Education. These funds are used to support all Fairfax County public schools and centers.

For more information, please watch this video on Impact Aid and visit the Federal Impact Aid Survey page.

Need to Register for ParentVUE?

Learn how to activate your SIS ParentVUE account, so you can easily submit your survey.

Technical support for using ParentVUE or completing the survey online is available by submitting a Parent Support Request ticket. Select SISParent in the Application dropdown menu and type Federal Impact Aid Survey under Issue Description. Or, call the Parent Technology Help Desk at 833-921-3277 (833-921-FCPS).

Boys Volleyball

Boys Volleyball inaugural season in FCPS

After years of determination by Coach Lori Prendergast, Woodson High School’s Boys Volleyball Team debuted this season, marking a significant milestone for the program. The team, consisting of 20 players, 4 practice players, and 2 managers, included four dedicated seniors—Kennen Nelson-Pennebaker, Tristan Lee, Isaac Kim, and Michael Jenkins - and finished their inaugural season with a record of 7 wins and 8 losses.

Statistically, the team displayed strong performances, with an impressive 85% serve accuracy and a .303 attack percentage.

Individual accolades highlighted the season’s success. Freshman Isaac McConkie earned a spot on the Patriot All-District Team, while sophomores Tommy Quigley and Ethan Nguyen received Honorable Mentions, showcasing the program’s bright future.

In addition to their athletic achievements, the entire team earned the Scholar Athlete Award, with every member achieving a GPA of 3.5 or higher. This inaugural season sets a strong foundation for the program’s future while celebrating the commitment and excellence of its pioneers.
