Based on surveys of more than 36,000 Americans, YouGov’s US consumer bank rankings report 2024 examines which banks have the most satisfied customers and which banks consumers are considering most when opening a new bank account.

Among the findings:

  • Bank of America is the most considered bank among Americans planning to open a new account in the next 12 months, followed by Chase and Capital One
  • U.S. Bank saw a 30% increase in account-opener consideration from 2023 to 2024, the largest rise among all banks tracked
  • While 18-29 year olds are the most likely age group to consider a digital-only bank (39% vs 33% of all new account openers), they are still more likely to consider opening an account with a traditional bank (47%)

The insights in the rankings report come from YouGov CategoryView, a new brand tracking solution built for banks, combining category-specific insights with brand and audience data. Complementary datasets for insurance, investment, and payment service brands are also available.
