When Alice goes to visit her husband’s grave on his birthday, she’s shocked to find a grown man dressed as Kermit already there. The man in the frog costume is Ben, and his older brother is buried in the plot next to Alice’s husband. As part of a joke, Ben’s brother stipulated in his will that Ben must visit his grave every year in a different specified embarrassing costume. It seems that all Alice and Ben have in common is their grief, yet it helps them forge a poignant—if not peculiar—friendship. They meet only once a year at the same place and time. As time moves forward and their grief changes shape, their connection may help them navigate the life that is stretched out before them. |
