This is a reminder to check the Gulf of Mexico HAB Forecast System, linked above, for up-to-date conditions. FWRI and partners confirmed the presence of Karenia brevis offshore of Pinellas, Manatee, and Sarasota Counties over the past week. Recent satellite imagery from 26 Oct. shows high fluorescence (potentaily K. brevis) just offshore of southern Sarasota County and offshore of Estero Island (Lee County). We will continue to monitor conditions using satellite imagery and partner collected cell counts.
This bulletin provides forecast updates and reminders of the Karenia brevis harmful algal blooms (HABs) in southwestern Florida. Please find up-to-date analysis, satellite imagery, and forecasts at the Gulf of Mexico HAB Forecast System.
Subscribers will receive notices of changes or improvements to the forecasting system. Subscribers will also be periodically reminded to check the HAB Forecast System, especially when there are major changes in bloom status.

Please continue to email questions and comments to hab@noaa.gov.
