This is a reminder to check the Lake Erie HAB Forecast, linked above. The Microcystis bloom continues to be present in western Lake Erie, but at reduced concentrations. As of 19 Oct. 2024, small patches of bloom were observed from Maumee Bay, OH and along the Ohio coast towards Port Clinton.
This bulletin provides a summary and forecast of the Microcystis harmful algal blooms (HABs) in western Lake Erie. Updates will be e-mailed to subscribers with important information regarding bloom status and significant features.
