There's no single right way to do an annual life review.
The best one fits your work and the season of life you're in. So I asked 10 people to show you theirs.
On Wed, Nov. 4, I'm hosting the Annual Review Virtual Summit, free and online from 12–4 pm ET.
You'll hear from neuroscientist Anne-Laure Le Cunff, filmmaker Jo Franco, organizing expert Shira Gill, and more.
Each gives a short, practical talk on how they look back on their year and plan the next.
Join for the whole summit or just the talks that fit your schedule, and borrow whatever works for you.
It's all to celebrate the launch of my new book, Life in Perspective, out Nov. 3.
Do a Mini Annual Review With Me (It Takes 2 Minutes)
I've done an annual life review for 18 years. This week, I want you to try a tiny version of it with me.
You'll look back at what you're glad happened, notice what drained your energy, and spend 20 seconds picturing a future worth moving toward.
It takes about two minutes. You'll come away with a clearer sense of direction for the rest of the year.
What 18 Years of Annual Reviews Taught Me: A Live Q&A
Recently, I went live to answer your questions about my new book, Life in Perspective.
The best answers are now on our blog.
You'll learn why I recommend spending 8 hours on your review, and why it matters most after a hard year.
I also share the one sentence from my wife that changed how I see my work.
Plus why I change how I see my life before I make a single plan.
What Has AI Amplified in You?
In one of our final live sessions of The AI Second Brain, a participant told me the AI agents they'd built had left them overwhelmed.
I find that AI reliably amplifies whatever is already there. It has no opinion. It will magnify the best part of your personality and the worst, sometimes at once.
For me, it's overwork. I already tended to overwork, and AI latches on and suggests I could do even more. Other people in the session named perfectionism and endless tweaking.
So when AI leaves you overwhelmed, ask: Where was that overwhelm already present? AI tapped into it and made it bigger.
What has AI amplified in you that was already there? Hit reply and tell me what you notice.
