You got the job. You crossed the finish line. People clapped. And the whole time, part of you was waiting to be found out. That feeling? It's not really imposter syndrome. It's a self-trust problem. You have the evidence. You just haven't believed it yet.
It makes sense when you trace it back. Home or work environments that treated mistakes as verdicts rather than information. A big life transition (new country, new role, or new chapter). A bar that kept moving every time you reached it, keeping "enough" permanently out of reach.
The way through it is smaller than you think.
Start keeping receipts on yourself. The hard conversation with your sibling. The time you showed up for your friend when you had nothing left. Write one down this week that you never gave yourself credit for.
Make small promises to yourself and keep them. One boundary. One hard thing. Self-trust is rebuilt the same way it breaks — one kept or broken promise at a time.
If you want to go deeper, bring this to Purpose: "If I've already proven I can handle hard things, why do I still feel like I'm about to be found out?"
