celebration

Thank you to, School Counselor, Ms. Lemus-Ortiz for organizing our Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration on October 1! Students were able to “travel” to several countries throughout their 4th period and into lunch - they tried a variety of foods and candies and learned about the cultures of several countries.  It was a great way to learn and celebrate!

A Message from the Principal

break

Greetings Bryant Families!

It is hard to believe we are already into October and just four weeks away from the end of the first quarter! We are now past the halfway mark, making this an ideal time to sit down with your child to review their current progress in SIS ParentVUE or SIS StudentVUE. Students still have time to submit missing assignments, prepare for upcoming tests, or coordinate with teachers regarding reassessments to ensure they finish the quarter strong.

On Tuesday, September 29, we hosted our first Senior Meeting and breakfast activity (pictured above). Our counseling team cooked fresh pancakes with a variety of delicious toppings and fruit. While enjoying breakfast, students learned about upcoming graduation dates and requirements. We will continue to keep our Seniors motivated and focused on reaching that stage! Looking ahead, our school-wide Spirit Week is set for October 26–30, be sure to check the details below for each day’s theme.

Starting tomorrow, Monday, October 5, we will begin issuing each student a dedicated Yondr pouch for the school year. Below are the expectations we have been reviewing during daily announcements, and we appreciate your support in reminding your child about this new routine before they head out tomorrow morning.

Yondr Pouch Guidelines:

  • Daily Responsibility: Students must bring their assigned pouch to school every day (we recommend keeping it right inside their backpack with their computer).
  • Morning Routine: Upon arrival, pouches will be unlocked so students can secure their phones and AirPods inside for the remainder of the school day.
  • Forgotten Pouches: Students who leave their pouch at home will need to turn their phone into the main office for safe keeping until dismissal.
  • Replacements: Lost or damaged pouches carry a $20 replacement fee. Students must check their phone into the main office daily until a replacement is purchased.

Finally, a quick reminder that Wednesday, October 7, is PSAT/SAT Testing Day at Bryant High School. Please note that 9th-grade students do not attend school on this day; instead, 9th graders should use this time at home to catch up on assignments, study, or complete upcoming classwork.

Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership in making this a successful quarter!

Take Care!

Principal

Safe Routes to School Parent and Caregiver Survey

As part of the Fairfax County School Board’s Annual School-Based Traffic and Pedestrian Safety Assessment, the FCPS Office of Safety and Security and Safe Routes to School program are inviting parents and caregivers to share their experiences traveling to and from school.

The Traffic and Pedestrian Safety Survey asks about walking and biking routes, traffic near schools, kiss and ride experiences, accessibility, and other safety concerns.

Your feedback will help FCPS identify common issues. Your responses will be kept confidential and shared with school administrators and the Office of Safety and Security. The five-minute survey is open through Thursday, October 15.

Be sure to identify the school related to your feedback and include specific locations where you have observed a safety issue. If you have students at different schools in FCPS, please complete a different survey for each school.

If you have any questions about the survey, please contact SafeRoutestoSchool@fcps.edu.
