5 things we love from Wirecutter’s Hall of Fame |

Today, we unveiled our first-ever Hall of Fame Awards — 50 of the very best products our journalists have recommended throughout Wirecutter’s 15 years. The inaugural winners stood out among thousands of recommendations for their dependability, delightfulness, and versatility. Today, we’re dedicating the newsletter to the Hall of Fame picks we love and use most:
My Coway air purifier has been running practically nonstop for close to 3,000 days. It works as well as the very first day I bought it, after a friend and her cat temporarily moved in with me. It has since captured not only allergens from the aforementoned cat, but all kinds of things that have floated into my home over the years, including pollen and the persistent dust in my prewar apartment. And, crucially, it kept my home free of wildfire smoke when the New York City sky turned orange in 2023. It’s Wirecutter’s most popular product of all time for a reason.
Every time I opt to pack a manual toothbrush when I travel, I regret it. My teeth simply never end up feeling as squeaky clean as they do when I use our top-pick electric toothbrush. The vibration and oscillation basically brush my teeth for me, reminding me when to move from one part of my mouth to the next. And because it’s on a two-minute timer, I always brush for exactly the right amount of time.
I am picky about my bedding. Linen’s too scratchy, flannel’s too hot, and I get the heebie-jeebies when too-flimsy cotton sheets bunch around my body as I sleep. But that’s never the case with these smooth cotton percale sheets. (They’re also our bedding expert’s all-time favorite.) They’re thick yet airy, cool yet cozy, and despite years of use and washes, they’ve only gotten softer. I can truly think of few greater joys than slipping into them at the end of a long day.
My boyfriend and I bought this sturdy cast-iron skillet a few years ago when we decided we simply needed steak au poivre for Valentine’s Day dinner. And while it did help us make a scrumptious meal that year, it has since become the most-used piece of cookware in our kitchen — bar none. We use it to shallow fry tofu, flip pancakes, poach fish, toast bread crumbs, sauté vegetables, and so much more.
After years of putting up with good-enough kitchen towels, I recently leveled up and purchased this terry cloth, waffle-woven bundle. And what a difference they’ve made. They’re impressively soft and absorbent, so drying my dishes and wiping my countertops requires considerably less elbow grease. And? They come in an array of colors (I chose dusty rose), so I don’t mind leaving them out on display in my kitchen.

One last thing: How we crowned our Hall of Fame winners |
 |
| NYT Wirecutter |
Over the years, our experts have gone to extreme lengths to find best-in-class products. We’ve zapped ourselves with electric fly swatters, shoved foam baseballs into test toilet pipes, taught a 6-year-old how to pick locks, and even lit a room on fire — all in the name of journalism, of course. Through all of that, we’ve picked thousands of recommendations. So, how on earth did we narrow that list down to just 50 of the very best?
