A motorcycle rider was killed in a three-vehicle crash that closed U.S. 285 near Fairplay on Friday afternoon, the Colorado State Patrol said.

The single-engine plane had completed survey work and was on its way back to New Mexico when it crashed, according to a preliminary report.
