Hi Izabela
It´s Friday, so let's take a question.
This one arrives in my inbox more than almost any other:
"I was told years ago I have PCOS and to just lose weight. I've tried for years.
Why can't I?"
Because something in your body is actively telling it to hold on.
I went through the why of that on Monday, so one line here and then I'll get to the useful part: high insulin is a storage signal, and when somebody tells you to just eat less, they're asking you to push against it.
That isn't a willpower problem, correct? It's a signal problem.
And here's the hopeful half, which is the bit I'd rather spend this email on.
Blood sugar responds fast. It's one of the most responsive things in your entire body. You are not waiting years for this one.
So here are the three things I'd do first, and there's no supplement on the list.
-
Don't start your day sweet. This is the biggest one and the cheapest one. Juice, jam on toast, sweet yogurt, fruit on an empty stomach, a pastry with your coffee. Your insulin is most reactive in the morning, so a sweet start sets the pattern for the whole day. Protein first instead. Eggs, fish, leftovers. Whatever's really in your fridge.
-
Build every meal in an order. Protein, fiber and fat first, and the starchy thing last, not on its own. Same food, different order, much flatter response. That's it.
-
Move after you eat, not before. Ten minutes. A walk round the block, the stairs, tidying the kitchen properly. When a muscle contracts it pulls sugar out of your blood without needing insulin to do it. So you're doing your pancreas's work for it.
That's the week. Three things, no products, nothing to buy.
And one more thing I want to say to you plainly.
If you were told this was just your weight, or just your hormones, or that you should come back when you'd lost a few kilos, you were not given the truth.
You were given a shortcut.
It wasn't your fault, Izabela. You didn't know.
Love,
Vale
P.S. This week's video is the full version, and it goes further than an email can. They're renaming PCOS, and the reason matters for every woman who was ever told it was just her ovaries: It´s HERE in my YouTube Channel
There´s a lot more info and actionalble tips there
I hope it helps :) |
