Good morning, Chicago.

White Sox first baseman Munetaka Murakami stepped to the plate in the first inning Thursday with two on and two outs — and with just nine hits in his last 95 at-bats (.095) and 50 strikeouts in his last 27 games.

He broke out of his funk in a big way with a three-run home run to lead the Sox to a 3-1 victory against the Tigers that pulled them into a first-place tie with the Guardians in the AL Central with nine games remaining.
