Officials believe two men died when their single-engine plane crashed in a remote area of the San Juan Mountains near Telluride on Thursday.

An Alamosa County district court judge ordered Morphew on Wednesday to remain at home after it appeared Morphew was involved in a hit-and-run crash in Denver.

Colorado search and rescue crews are responding to a single-engine plane crash on Dolores Peak near Telluride, the San Miguel County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday.

“Please don’t shoot him,” the woman shouted to the officer while Dariss Yearby, 20, held her against him. “He’s lying because he wants to die. Please don’t.”

Traffic fatalities from suspected impaired driving fell significantly this year in Colorado between Memorial Day to Labor Day — referred to as “the 100 deadliest days” due to a typical peak in traffic deaths, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.

Barry Morphew, 58, is charged with first-degree murder in the death of his wife, Suzanne Morphew, who disappeared from the family’s Chaffee County home in 2020.

A man arrested on suspicion of murder began chasing and shooting at the victim’s car after the driver flashed his headlights at the man for weaving between lanes, according to court documents.

Investigators believe the shooting was a “family-related incident,” a police spokesperson said.

Joshua Robert Douglass, 33, was killed when a pickup struck him on a Fort Collins sidewalk.

A group of 500 teenagers became a “public safety issue” at an Aurora shopping center parking lot when the teens started vandalizing and stealing things from nearby businesses on Sunday afternoon, police officials said.
