Happy Labor Day weekend, Adventurists!

We talk a lot about hiking, biking and other fast-paced outdoor activities. But not all adventures need to be measured by speed or distance. I learned this recently while attending my first mushroom foray at the Telluride Mushroom Festival. Despite jaunting leisurely over the course of several hours, I still had an amazing experience interacting with nature. I got to dig in the dirt, touch slimy and squishy things, and eat wild raspberries. I felt like a kid again.

Recent rains mean there are tons of mushrooms growing in the wilderness. Here’s why you should go pick some for yourself.

Heads up

Denver weather calls for “intervals of bright sunshine” with thunderstorms in the afternoons and temperatures topping out around 90 degrees. Weather will be similar in the mountains, but cooler, with temps in the 70s and the occasional “thundershower” predicted.
