25 Years Later: Remembering 9/11
Twenty-five years ago, on September 11, 2001, our nation was forever changed. Nearly 3,000 lives were lost, families and communities were forever altered, and countless Americans came together in the aftermath. In the days and years that followed, a new generation of Veterans answered the call to serve, carrying the weight of that day into missions at home and around the world.
As we mark the 25th anniversary of September 11, the Department of Veterans Affairs honors those who lost their lives, remembers the first responders and service members who made extraordinary sacrifices, and recognizes the families who stood beside them. We remain committed to serving the Veterans whose lives were shaped by the events of September 11 and the years of service that followed. Twenty-five years later, we remember, we honor and we remain here to serve those who answered the call.
