Jurors in the Lindsay Clancy murder trial told the judge Wednesday that they remain deadlocked, the second time in two days they said they were unable to come to a unanimous verdict on whether she was criminally responsible for killing her three children.

On Tuesday morning, the jury, then in its fourth day of deliberations, sent Judge William Sullivan a note saying it had been unable to reach a unanimous decision, which is required by law for either a conviction or an acquittal. Sullivan told the jurors to keep trying — a common instruction in criminal trials when juries indicate they are having trouble reaching a verdict. After deliberating in private for the rest of the day, the jury asked at around 3:30 p.m. to go home and resume deliberations in the morning.

With high humidity and an unstable airmass in place, however, thunderstorms could fire up in the afternoon.

In the wake of a scathing report from a Massachusetts watchdog, elected leaders in Bridgewater are hiring a law firm to conduct an independent investigation into their town manager.

The decision comes after the Office of the Massachusetts Inspector General accused Justin Casanova-Davis of “leadership failure” and of abusing his vacation time while he worked in his previous job for the Town of Norfolk.

The OIG released the report a month ago and some taxpayers told NBC10 Boston they are frustrated about the lack of information coming from Town Hall. To date, town councilors have met three times behind closed doors in executive session to discuss the situation.

A newly obtained video is raising fresh questions about safety on MBTA platforms as the agency considers installing barriers between riders and train tracks.

The video, obtained by NBC10 Boston, shows an incident at Davis Station in July in which the MBTA says a person fell unconscious in the track area. The exact circumstances remain unclear, but the incident highlights the kind of danger platform barriers are intended to address.

The MBTA is now exploring whether physical barriers could help prevent riders from falling onto the tracks.

A person suffered life-threatening injuries in a stabbing Wednesday night in Boston’s Roslindale neighborhood.

Police responded to the stabbing around 9:10 p.m. to the 4000 block of Washington Street.

The victim suffered life-threatening injuries after being stabbed in the chest, Boston police said.

The November midterm election matchups are set in Massachusetts after Tuesday’s primaries.

There were no major upsets. Sen. Ed Markey and Congressman Stephen Lynch both fended off younger challengers, while Mike Minogue coasted past Brian Shortsleeve in the race for governor.
