For this weekend’s Recipe Lab, food culture reporter Dakshana Bascaramurty was on a mission: To find simple but tasty dinner recipes that would remain appetizing for the next day’s lunch leftovers. Guided by Vijaya Selvaraju’s Indian Food Is Easy cookbook, she landed on three dishes that use different proteins but similar spices, herbs and aromatics, which streamlined her grocery list. The result? Delicious dinners – and quick, satisfying lunches, too.

And last week, we shared our roundup of Canada’s best sandwiches from coast to coast. Several readers requested a city-by-city breakdown, so this week we offer a re-sorted list presented geographically, making it even easier for you to find a delicious sandwich in your own neck of the woods.

If you have a question on wine, e-mail it and we’ll answer a selection in the newsletter and on our website. Please share this newsletter, and if it was forwarded to you, sign up for this and other Globe and Mail lifestyle and arts newsletters.
