Yeah, I finally got around to cleaning out the pantry this weekend and found three half-empty boxes of cornstarch. Not sure why we kept buying more when there was already a full one behind the pasta. Anyway, I went to the library to pick up a hold and ended up staying way longer than planned because the air conditioning was so good. The librarian showed me a new section of travel guides for places I probably won't visit anytime soon, but it was fun flipping through them. Later on I made a huge batch of vegetable soup with whatever was left in the fridge, and honestly it turned out better than expected. The trick seems to be adding a little lemon juice at the end. I also fixed the squeaky hinge on the back door with some oil from the garage. It took two minutes and now the whole house is quieter. The neighbor's cat came over and sat on the porch for a while, which was nice. I didn't feed it anything but it still hung out. My headphones stopped working on one side again, so I have to wiggle the cord a certain way to hear anything. Tomorrow I might try to finish the book I started last month.

I spent the better part of an hour trying to remember the name of that song from the radio the other morning. It turned out the DJ had said it right after it played, and I completely missed it because I was making toast. Then I got an email from a coworker asking about a spreadsheet we both worked on three weeks ago. I had to dig through old downloads to find it, which felt like searching for a needle in a haystack. The weather cooled down enough in the evening that I took a long walk by the park. There were a few kids flying kites and one of the kites got stuck in a tree, but someone's dad managed to get it down with a water bottle tied to a string. I also reorganized my kitchen drawer and found a random lighter, two magnets shaped like fruit, and a stack of expired coupons for places I don't even go to anymore. My houseplant has a new leaf and I'm way more excited about that than I should be. Plan for tonight is a bowl of popcorn and maybe a documentary about deep sea creatures if I can stay awake long enough.
