Adult inpatient survey: Find the results for your local trust
We asked more than 58,000 people who stayed in hospital for at least one night in November 2025 about their care.
The survey asked people to give their opinions on the care they received, including quality of information and communication with staff, whether they were given enough privacy, the amount of support given to help them eat and drink, and on their discharge arrangements.
On a national level, people were more positive about their stays in hospitals, with most responses to questions also asked in the 2025 survey having improved or stayed the same.
Although people’s experience of being discharged from hospital has seen some small improvements this year, the results show it remains an area of difficulty for many.

Sharing best practice in primary and community care
Our new Learning from practice series collects examples of the excellent care we see in our inspections and visits.
The first case studies look at successful initiatives to improve care in GP services.
We have identified these through our inspections, particularly those where we awarded outstanding ratings. The aim is to help to spread good practice. If something is working well in one service, there's a good chance it can work somewhere else too.
The initial set of case studies include examples of how different services:
- partnered with local community organisations to bring cancer screening awareness directly into Nepalese community spaces
- tackled missed asthma reviews using multilingual social prescriber support, Saturday clinics, and child-friendly invitations
- celebrate patients' health achievements to build a supportive community and motivate healthier choices
- reach patients being left behind by digital-first services.
We will be adding new case studies for other health and care sectors.

Reflections from our assessment framework roadshows
Senior leaders have been sharing reflections from the engagement activity surrounding the development of our new assessment frameworks in a series of blog posts.
In the latest post, Stuart Dunn, our Director of Mental Health, shares what we heard from mental health providers and stakeholders at the roadshows held across the country.
Earlier, Chris Badger, Chief Inspector of Adult Social Care and Integrated Care, wrote about the response from adult social care providers and Bola Owolabi, Chief Inspector of Primary Care & Community Services spoke about the feedback from primary and community care.
Across the sectors, we heard support for the direction of travel with the new frameworks, although questions were asked about implementation. There were also calls to recognise the diversity within sectors, as well as between them.
