Hi Mother Jones Reader,
As the summer season begins to come to an end, the League of Conservation Voters (LCV) is celebrating the outdoor treasures America has to offer: Our public lands, national parks, and national monuments. But these places we cherish so dearly are at a crossroads, and the threats to them are numerous: |
-
Just the other day, Trump repeated his deeply unpopular and unlawful decision from his first term to gut protections for Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monuments in Utah, shrinking their boundaries by more than 90%.
-
The administration is seeking to sell off over 330,000 acres around Chaco Culture National Historic Park in New Mexico for oil and gas leasing, threatening a UNESCO World Heritage Site with deep significance to the Pueblo people and dozens of Tribal Nations.
-
The Trump administration is proposing to undo protections called the Roadless Rule, which protects more than 58 million acres of our national forest. This would put millions of acres of our national forests at risk for more logging, mining, and drilling
|
The threats may be numerous, but LCV is here to fight the attacks on our public lands. That’s why we’ve launched our mystery merch giveaway for new members to show their support while helping to protect our public lands and our planet. Your membership is critical to keeping up the fight against these attacks. Join us today, secure your exclusive, double-item mystery gear set, and help us protect the planet! |
