Smart home technology has long been part of the luxury residential market, but there is a change taking place in how builders, developers and homebuyers view it. Instead of being an upgrade added later, the technology is increasingly being designed into a residence from the start. That shift was behind my recent conversation with JC Murphy, chief commercial officer at Savant, following the company's announcement that it had been selected as the exclusive smart home technology partner for two U.S. Development luxury Florida projects: Salato Pompano Beach and Viceroy Residences Clearwater Beach.

BrandSource Urges Dealers To Go 'All In' As Digital Divide Widens
BrandSource members who have embraced the group's e-commerce, marketing and technology programs are pulling away from those that haven't, AVB's co-CEOs told dealers at the group's 2026 Convention.
The difference is becoming hard to ignore. Dave Meekings, who shares the CEO role with John White, said AVB went back several years, to shortly after the pandemic sales boom, and compared the performance of members actively using its tools with those that weren't. The aggregate book of business among engaged members is now about 30% higher, he said, while dealers that didn't use the programs saw their business decline.
