Good morning Wentyl,

The nation’s leaders will come together to confront the most pressing issues of regional life for News Corp Australia’s annual Bush Summit.

The summit, which has previously secured a $1bn low-interest loan fund for farmers among its many achievements, is the nation’s largest conversation between powerbrokers and the bush.

From establishing a Regional Youth Taskforce for Mental Health and securing $155m to fix potholes in regional and rural areas, the summit has produced real results for bush communities since it started in 2019 in NSW.

The summit went national in 2023 and this year will take place in the NSW city of Dubbo.

Last year Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said the Bush Summit was “a valuable initiative in the life of the nation.”

imageAt the Bush Summit locals will get the chance to tell politicians what matters most to them, whether it’s the cost of diesel and fertiliser, dangerous roads, access to medical care and childcare or bad phone coverage in the bush.

The Bush Summit is where the voices of regional Australia get a national stage to express their views on the challenges and opportunities that matter most in the bush.

Among Bush Summit’s many achievements are securing $43m for drought resilience and climate adaptation in NSW, $20m to keep broadcast radio services online nationwide during emergencies and $15m in biosecurity grants to protect Victorian livestock.

For Queensland, the Bush Summit helped secure a $1m grant for a new athletics centre in Toowoomba ahead of the 2032 Olympics.

The Bush Summit aims to make meaningful change in communities neglected by politicians chasing the votes of the cities and wants to bridge the gap between the cities and the regions.

Ultimately, the Bush Summit is about getting things done and delivering real results for the bush.
