VEText Improvements

You asked, we listened!

VA Central Iowa has been working to improve the veteran experience with VEText Appointment Reminders. Using the feedback from over 300 local veterans, we have made the following improvements to your messages.

What is VEText?
-VEText is an automated, limited, and interactive text message system to remind Veterans of upcoming VA appointments. VEText is an automated system and will not respond to any questions or comments. Veterans can only respond to confirm or cancel an appointment, as instructed in the text message received

How do you add clinic locations to VEText Appointment Reminders?
-Veterans can reply to the last VEText message they received with their zip code and they will begin to receive clinic name and location
-All veterans who are eligible and enrolled in VA healthcare will automatically be enrolled in VEText and locations will not be included. Veterans must reply to a VEText message with their zip code to add clinic locations on their reminder texts.

How do you opt out or back in to VEText Appointment Reminders?
-Veterans may STOP the text messages by replying STOP to a VEText message
-Veterans who have opted out of VEText and would like to opt back in can reply START to the last VEText message received

What is the frequency of VEText Appointment Reminders?
-Veterans are now receiving VEText appointment reminders 7 and 1 day prior to their scheduled appointment per the feedback and preferences we received from over 300 local veterans.

Thank you for your feedback!
