Dear Eric: If our neighbors notice that we are out on our front porch, they will often come over (either individually or together), plop themselves down, and without asking how we are or what we’ve been up to proceed to talk about their health, their work, themselves, their sons’ lives, their degree programs and their plans for the future. The list is endless.
