Maybe you don't examine emails like we do here at RGE, but email footers usually look like the legal department was given one final opportunity to ruin the mood.
That's because the hero is what gets the attention and the middle gets the product grids, testimonials, and carefully negotiated button copy. But the footer? The footer is usually the sad part that carries the unsubscribe link, a mailing address, maybe some social icons that people don't actually click.
But good footers do more than end an email; they complete it. (Insert that memory from Austin Powers where Dr. Evil tells Mini-Me that he completes him.) For example, Lovable and Rapha use enormous logos to leave one final brand impression. Claude finishes by asking whether the email was actually useful with prominent thumbs-up and thumbs-down buttons. And Sundays uses clear illustrations to answer purchase hesitations before the reader leaves. As we've seen, the best footer is the last chance to leave a lasting impression.
That's why we did a deep dive into footers this week and wrote up some guidelines on why you should pay attention to them.
