Mic check!
We at the Observer are excited to officially launch our weekly newsletter, This Week in Dallas Music, where we dial all things music up to 11.
I'm Alec Spicer, music and culture editor at Observer. Together with associate music and culture editor Alyssa Fields, we'll be beating the drum from this little box every week.
Here, you'll find some of our favorite Observer music stories, of course. But I hope it'll also help you cut through the background noise and put your music discovery in one easily digestible place.
Maybe you'll find your next favorite artist. Maybe you'll learn that your existing favorite artist will be in town soon. Or, maybe you've reached the age where you prefer to stand and observe from the back of the crowd but still want to keep an ear to the streets when you can.
In any case, we at the Observer aren't the snarky music snobs (at least not all the time) that some might assume, so we welcome it all.
In fact, with this newsletter, you can expect curated, no-filler and unpretentious cuts straight from our music desk. Sometimes I might even recommend something to you that didn't make its way into our coverage. (Listen to Charli xcx's new "Music, Fashion & Film" record if you want something fresh, and skip the new Strokes record, unless you're a glutton for fuzzy, drawn-out punishment.)
Now, below is everything you can't miss in Dallas music this week.
