Israel: Knesset Adopts Law to Prosecute Perpetrators of October 7, 2023, Offenses

On May 11, 2026, the Knesset (Israel’s parliament) adopted a law to regulate the prosecution of people who committed offenses during the October 7, 2023, attack on Israel by Hamas. The Law on Prosecution for the Events of the Massacre on October 7, 2023 (Simchat Torah Massacre), 5786-2026, applies to offenses committed between October 7, 2023, and October 10, 2023. It also covers offenses committed after this period against people who were kidnapped, whether alive or dead, and taken from Israel to the Gaza Strip.
