I'm turning 90. Here's what I've decided to do about it.
I'll be blunt with you.
I am about to turn 90 years old.
Ninety. It sounds improbable, even to me. I have been in this business since before most of you were born - longer, in many cases, than your parents have been alive.
And I've decided to mark the occasion by doing something I would normally consider financially inadvisable.
I'm cutting the price of my School of Marketing by more than half.
Not 10%. Not one of those tedious "limited time" gestures that aren't limited at all. 75% off.
The full School - every video, every book, every interview, every tip and trick I have accumulated over a career that has taken me from running a pub in Dublin to working alongside David Ogilvy, Claude Hopkins' disciples, and some of the cleverest direct marketers who ever lived - is normally $3,597.00.
For my birthday, it's yours for $897.67.
Now. Why should you care?
Because most marketing is rubbish.
I don't say that to be unkind. I say it because it's true, and because I have spent nearly seven decades watching otherwise intelligent people waste extraordinary sums of money on advertising that flatters their ego and bores their customers.
The principles I teach are not fashionable. They are not new. Some of them were discovered by John E. Powers in the 1890s - a man who charged $100 a day when that was an almost scandalous sum, and was worth every penny.
They still work. They work because, as John Caples said to a Wall Street Journal interviewer, "Times change. People don't."
If you want to understand why your copy isn't converting, why your campaigns underperform, why customers read your first sentence and immediately think of something else - the answer is almost certainly in here.
I'm not going to live forever. But this gives you access to more than I've ever offered before.
I am, however, still here. Still writing. Still teaching. And, apparently, still turning 90.
Get it here, for my birthday.
With my warmest regards and entirely undiminished opinions,
Drayton Bird
