A good water filter pitcher is the easiest way to get filtered drinking water at home. But these pitchers are susceptible to gunk and grime, if not stored and cleaned properly. For instance, mold is prone to growing in humid places where water is stagnant and trapped, and algae (yes, really) can grow if the pitcher is left out in direct sunlight. So, first things first, make sure to keep your Brita somewhere cool and dim — like the fridge, a cabinet, or a countertop away from a window.
