This is a reminder to check the Lake Erie HAB Forecast, linked above.
Satellite imagery is detecting cyanobacteria (Microcystis) in north Maumee Bay. The bloom appears to be slow to develop.
NOAA GLERL has been detecting low concentrations of dissolved microcystin within western Lake Erie but particulate microcystin has remained below detection to date. Up-to-date information can be found at the NOAA GLERL Lake Erie Weekly Field Sampling Data.
This bulletin provides a summary and forecast of the Microcystis harmful algal blooms (HABs) in western Lake Erie. Updates will be e-mailed to subscribers with important information regarding bloom status and significant features.
