I think the best approach for the community garden project would be to start with a few raised beds this spring. We have about six volunteers confirmed and the soil results came back decent. The tomatoes and peppers should do well in the back corner where it gets full sun. For the herbs, we could use the strip along the fence line. Let me know if you want to help with the compost setup next weekend. I can bring the tools and some starter plants if that works for everyone. We still need to decide on a watering schedule but that can be sorted once the beds are built. The garden committee meets again on Tuesday evening to finalize the layout and assign tasks. I think we should also plan for a small shed near the entrance to store tools and supplies. That would make things easier for volunteers who come early or late. Let me know your thoughts on how we should divide the plot sections. We have enough space for about eight beds if we use the full lot, but I think starting with four is wiser until we see how much time people can commit. The community center said they can provide mulch and compost if we submit a request form before the end of the month. I can handle that paperwork if you want to coordinate the volunteer schedule instead.

The photos from the lake trip turned out really well. I especially like the ones taken at sunset near the dock. If you want copies I can put them on a shared drive tomorrow. The weather ended up being perfect for hiking even though the forecast looked uncertain earlier in the week. Next time we should plan for a full day on the water. The kayak rental place mentioned they offer guided tours now which could be fun. Let me know what you think about trying that in the fall when the leaves change. I also wanted to ask about the book club selection for next month. The current pick has been getting mixed reactions from the group. Some members feel it moves too slowly while others appreciate the character development. I think we should consider alternating between fiction and nonfiction to keep everyone engaged. For the meeting next week we need to decide on the venue since the library is booked. My place could work if everyone is comfortable with that. I can prepare some snacks and drinks. Let me know if that works for you and I will send a note to the rest of the group. The discussion questions should be ready by Wednesday so we have time to review them before the gathering.
