Your heart, but make it silicone. Researchers built a fully synthetic, soft robotic heart that beats, twists, and simulates heart disease on command—so scientists can test devices and cut back on animal studies. It has silicone chambers, hydraulic “muscles,” and valves that swing open and shut like tiny doors. The catch is that it’s still a proof of concept, so nobody’s getting one implanted just yet.
