New CMS Telehealth Billing Updates for RHCs and FQHCs
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services released a change request instructing Rural Health Clinics (RHCs) and Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) on how to bill distant site telehealth services for dates of service on or after October 1, 2026. RHCs and FQHCs should bill the individual Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) or Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) that describe the distant site telehealth service furnished with the applicable telehealth modifier, instead of the single HCPCS code G2025.
