A day after Sir Keir Starmer announced his resignation as the UK prime minister, the stage may be set for the former Greater Manchester mayor, Andy Burnham, to replace him. Some in the Labour Party wonder if there should be a contest rather than a coronation, but, if there isn't one, Burnham could be in office within weeks. Whoever takes over, they will fairly quickly have to win over Donald Trump. It's something Starmer managed - for a while, at least. Medical staff had to switch to pen and paper, while continuing to care for patients. It worked. In a world where cyber-attacks are an increasingly common threat, this was one of the worst of its kind.
