Student Achievements, “Providence Presents” Returns, Opportunities to Get Involved, and More!
Dear Neighbors,
As summer gets underway, our schools and community continue to celebrate achievements while looking ahead to the opportunities the season brings. This week’s newsletter highlights the accomplishments of Providence District students and schools, important school division updates, and resources to support families throughout the summer months.
One area of particular pride is the outstanding achievements of our students, educators, and school communities. From state championships and recognition for excellence in music education to honors celebrating exceptional leadership, Providence District schools continue to demonstrate the talent, dedication, and excellence that make our community so special.
This week’s newsletter also includes updates on ongoing boundary review work, opportunities to serve on School Board advisory committees, and information about summer meals, learning resources, and mental health supports for students. You’ll also find details about the return of “Providence Presents,” offering free music and entertainment throughout the summer, as well as other ways to stay connected and engaged in our community.
As always, thank you for your continued partnership and support of our students, schools, and community. I hope you and your family enjoy a safe and restful summer.
In service,
Karl Frisch Providence District Representative Fairfax County School Board

Apply Today: School Board Advisory Committee Openings
Looking for a way to make a difference in our schools? Providence District residents are invited to apply to serve on School Board Community Advisory Committees, which increase community input to our Board on important issues.
For the 2026–27 school year, we currently have openings on two committees: the Adult and Community Education Advisory Committee (ACE) and the School Health Advisory Committee (SHAC). Both committees meet monthly and serve one-year terms.
APPLY HERE by this Wednesday, June 24, at 5:00 p.m. If you are unsure whether you live in the Providence District, please use the district look-up tool.
Following interviews with select applicants, new committee members will be approved at a School Board meeting in July.
Boundary Work Update
At the conclusion of the Superintendent’s countywide boundary review, Greenway Downs, Jefferson Village, City Park Homes, and Kingsley Commons neighborhoods were flagged for 1 Year Review with recommendations by January 2027.
This spring, the school division continued to gather feedback from community members. On April 28, a community meeting was held at Falls Church High School. To expand participation and make engagement more accessible, two additional meetings were held within the impacted communities — one at Graham Road Elementary School on June 3 and another on June 15 at Kingsley Commons.
Once all feedback has been reviewed, FCPS will host meetings this fall (again, at both the pyramid and community levels) to share additional information and potential boundary adjustment proposals.

Additional Mental Health Resources
FCPS has resources available to support your child’s mental health. During after-school hours, parents and students who need additional support can use the 988 Lifeline to get free, confidential guidance from trained crisis counselors on how to best help someone experiencing a mental health challenge or crisis. You can call or text the number.
Recent reports have shared an 11% drop in suicides among young people since the rollout of 988. Please note, the hotline is not only for those experiencing suicidal ideation (or thoughts), it is also available for any mental health or substance abuse-related crisis and those with a loved one experiencing those crises or suicidal thoughts.
And as always, if your concern is an emergency, you should call 911.
