Aaron Sorkin Talks The Social Reckoning |
Before the first trailer for The Social Reckoning, a sequel of sorts to The Social Network, set (what else?) social media on fire last week, Rebecca Ford got to catch up with Aaron Sorkin, who both wrote and directed the upcoming film. That’s a big change from the first movie, which was helmed by David Fincher—but at least Sorkin could lean on his former collaborator in a different way. “David, I think, was the first one to read the script,” Sorkin tells Vanity Fair. “He was just very enthusiastic and eager to help any way he could.” In a juicy interview, Sorkin also digs into why it was time for a second Facebook movie and why Jesse Eisenberg didn’t want to return for it. (Instead, Jeremy Strong takes up the mantle of Mark Zuckerberg this time around.)
Elsewhere, Savannah Walsh checks out what’s purportedly the first fully AI-generated movie to screen at a major film festival; costume designer Blair James takes Olivia Tauber into the dark world of Obsession; Wengel Gemu catches up with Austin Butler; and Nate Freeman evaluates the visual art of celebrities like Tilda Swinton, Matt Dillon, and Sylvester Stallone. |
