NotableI worked for a top venture capital firm. I’ve seen how warped Silicon Valley has become. “Some of the most powerful players in A.I. — led by some of my friends and former partners, to my great sadness — have raised hundreds of millions of dollars to forestall a more serious and meaningful debate about how A.I. should be governed.” — John O’Farrell, a former general partner at Andreessen Horowitz It’s Godzilla versus T. rex. “What happened here is that Democrats rallied to Platner prematurely, gullibly, foolishly — they were buying into a myth more than a man — and now many of them are trying to rationalize that or pretend that he’s not who he has been revealed to be.” — Frank Bruni, a contributing Opinion writer, in conversation with Bret Stephens, an Opinion columnist A solution to Trumpism? “The same theory of history that holds that a terrible man like Trump can shift the culture also holds that a better man or woman can help heal our nation.” — David French, an Opinion columnist Spotlight

In Your WordsRe: “The Bipartisan Hatred of All Things Feminine” I am 75 years old. All my life I’ve voted in every election — local, state and federal. Rarely have I even had the opportunity to vote for a woman candidate, and when I could and did, they mostly didn’t win. That doesn’t mean they lost because they continue to work toward creating a more inclusive, and dare I say, equitable nation. I feel cheated. Cheated by both political parties. Cheated by my own expectations that now just bubble at the surface. And for the women who have made a foothold, and there are many, despite always held to a different standard and varying ideal, I salute you for continuing to plan to win despite the odds. — A comment posted by Judith from Minneapolis Read more comments on the story here and check out our Letters to the Editor.
