This week we have a special Five Questions. Instead of one guest answering Five Questions, we have five (well, a few more than five) guests answering the same question. A very important one. Saturday is the fourth anniversary of this newsletter, as crazy as that is. I want to spend some time celebrating the wonderful community of pro-democracy activists we’ve created here. That’s worth doing. But we're all realistic enough to understand that we continue to face serious challenges; we have to face them head on. So tonight, I asked some of the smartest, most engaged people I know to share their thoughts about how they view what’s happening to our democracy and some concrete steps each of us can take, right now, to protect our country. Tonight’s Five Questions offers their collective wisdom and advice on how we bring sanity, order, and meaning to this moment. We’re joined by Preet Bharara, Eric Holder, Stacey Abrams, Jim Acosta, Katie Phang, Dahlia Lithwick, Ryan Goodman, Pete Strzok, and Ruth Ben-Ghiat. I’m so appreciative that they each took time during a busy week to share their perspective. Five Questions is a periodic feature for paid subscribers, my way of thanking those who are able to support this work so that I can devote the necessary time and resources to it. Whether you’re a paid subscriber or not, I’m happy to have you here. I appreciate everyone who reads the newsletter and works to stay informed in this pivotal moment. Free subscriptions, with access to all of the other nightly posts, will always be available, so anyone can subscribe.
