Hello Network Members!
Thank you to those who attended our June 2 TICN meeting.
Neighborhood and Community Services (NCS) staff shared their emerging Teen Strategy, highlighting goals to better engage young people, create welcoming and responsive spaces, and align youth programs with trauma-informed principles such as safety, choice, and relationship-building. TICN members offered feedback on how the strategy could further reduce barriers and support teens with diverse needs.
Next, building on the April discussion about institutions and disability, members broke into small groups to explore how policies, norms, and environments can either add chronic stress or act as “safety nets” for people with disabilities—especially those with invisible disabilities—and to identify practical steps their own organizations and the TICN more broadly can take to build institutions that are more inclusive, healing-centered, and affirming.
Please check out the updates from our members below!
Sincerely,
Your TICN Coordinator

Seeking community members to join our Trauma Team at our Annandale location, and we definitely need bilingual therapists (Spanish).
Trauma Teams will meet virtually once per month to thoughtfully review member concerns and coordinate supports. All Trauma Team members will be trained in a basic overview of the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework, which includes universal supports (Tier 1), targeted interventions (Tier 2), and intensive individualized supports (Tier 3). These supports may include therapy, targeted interventions such as the Skills for Psychological Recovery program (Tier 2), assessment to help determine appropriate services, and connections to community resources for basic needs like food or housing.
Therapists who are interested in joining our team may also sign up to receive FREE training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), which is roughly a $1000 value. Note: A Master’s degree in a clinical field is required for certification in the model.
