End of Year Celebrations

As we prepare for a variety of end of year celebrations throughout our school building, a friendly reminder that all visitors to the school building must bring a government-issued ID, such as a driver's license or passport, to sign in through the school's front office.  Thank you!

Summer Office Access & Hours

Please note that our front office will have limited access this summer due to seasonal staffing adjustments and we will have ongoing building construction. When visiting, you may notice chain-link fencing around the campus that makes the school appear closed; however, we are open!

Our temporary summer hours for the public will be from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on most workdays. Because our schedule may shift due to holidays or unexpected staffing shortages, we will communicate any specific closure dates dynamically through these weekly community newsletters. We appreciate your patience and flexibility as we work to improve our facility!

Summer holidays for FCPS staff include Friday, June 19 in honor of Juneteenth and Friday, July 3 in honor of the Independence Day.

Attendance Matters

Even at the end of the school year, student attendance counts as part of the Bren Mar Park school accreditation.  Children should be in school through the last day of school.  Please continue to notify the office if your child cannot attend school due to illness or a medical appointment.

Please notify the office of any expected extended absences.

Special Thank You for Saving Our School Event

Bren Mar Park's PTA coordinated a very special thank you event for the Fairfax County firefighters and well as members of the FCPS facilities team who supported the community following the fire on April 19, 2026.  This special event made the news!  Learn more at https://www.fcps.edu/news/warm-welcome-bren-mar-park-elementary-thanks-firefighters-protecting-their-school

Keep Learning Alive This Summer!

As school lets out, families have an opportunity to keep children engaged and learning all summer long. Setting aside time for educational growth is about taking advantage of everyday moments. One of the best ways to build language structures, vocabulary, and background experiences is through simple, engaging daily conversations. Take time during family meals, neighborhood walks, or car rides to ask questions about the world around you, which naturally stretches your child's communication skills. Additionally, students retain full access to their familiar Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) online digital resources throughout the break, allowing them to log on and practice skills at their own pace from the comfort of home.

For structured and fun learning options, the broader Fairfax County community offers excellent programs to beat the summer slide. The Fairfax County Public Library's summer programs provide a fantastic, interactive way to incentivize reading with challenges and community events. Through the library, families can easily access a vast catalog of digital audiobooks and e-books, perfect for keeping kids entertained. Furthermore, families can explore official FCPS Summer Learning opportunities, which feature enriching programs like the Tech Adventure Camp—where younger students can explore STEM concepts—and the Elementary Institute for the Arts (E-IFTA), a weekly arts camp designed for children who love to create, sing, dance, and perform. Embracing these local resources ensures our young learners return in the fall confident, sharp, and ready to succeed!

BMP Boundary Proposals

Bren Mar Park Boundary Study

Following the Fairfax County School Board’s July 2024 update to Policy 8130, a comprehensive boundary review led to approved changes in January 2026, with further community engagement for specific sites—including those impacting Bren Mar Park Elementary.  Proposals that impact Bren Mar Park are currently being reviewed and feedback is open.  Boundary recommendations are slated for January 2027 in preparation for the following school year.

The current proposal includes:

         - Bren Mar Park Elementary School - PreK - grade 6

         - Key Middle School - grades 7-8

         - Lewis High School - grades 9-12

Feedback is open through June 30, 2026 at https://www.fcps.edu/about-fcps/maps/boundary-adjustments-information/bren-mar-park-feedback
