Can you believe we are down to our final stretch of the school year? Next week marks our last full week of school, and we have a busy, exciting days ahead!
With so many special end-of-year activities, final projects, and celebrations planned, every single day counts. We want to emphasize the importance of excellent attendance this week. Missing even one day means missing out on memorable closure activities with teachers and classmates, so please help us finish strong by ensuring your child is here and ready to learn each day!
We have a incredibly special tradition that took place today. Our neighborhood high school seniors— whom walked these very hallways as elementary students—visited us in their caps and gowns for a "Graduation Walk" before their official ceremony next week. It is a wonderful moment for our younger students to see what their future holds and to celebrate the hard work of these graduating seniors.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support as we wrap up an amazing school year together!
Sincerely,
Gina O'Neal, Principal
Christine Berry, Assistant Principal
Kevin Heron, Assistant Principal

Fairfax County Public Library summer reading adventure: Unearth a Story.
Mt. Vernon Woods Library is very excited to host a librarian from Fairfax County Public Library on Friday, June 5 to tell us about the Fairfax County Public Library summer reading adventure: Unearth a Story. Reading for pleasure is great for kids in many ways including keeping up their reading skills over the summer and helping them succeed in school.
The Summer Reading Adventure is as easy as 1-2-3!
- Beginning June 10, go to a local library branch and pick up a paper reading log or visit fairfaxcounty.beanstack.org and pre-register for the Summer Reading Adventure..
- Depending on your age, earn ten or fifteen virtual badges by reading or listening to books, reading for 20 or 30 minutes, completing activities or a combination of all three.
- Once you have met the reading goals for your age/grade, visit your local library branch and receive prizes for finishing the program!
 Calendar Survey
FCPS values your input as we plan future school calendars. On Friday, June 5, all caregivers and FCPS staff will receive an email from noreply@fcps.edu containing a unique link to complete the FCPS Calendar Survey.
Your feedback matters. Please take a few minutes to share your priorities and perspectives by Monday, June 22, at 11:59 p.m.
Your individual responses will be kept confidential and will not be shared with school staff or used in any way that identifies you or your student. Only aggregate, summary-level results will be reported to the Fairfax County School Board.
