Hello MUES Families,
As I shared at Wednesday evening's PTA general membership meeting, McNair Upper successfully finished all SOL testing on Wednesday, June 3rd in which our school team administered over 1,400 tests! The hard work of our staff who helped to administer all of these assessments has not gone unnoticed nor has the hard work of our two school test coordinators, Ms. Janofsky and Mr. Matthews. Please join me in thanking them for a job well done!
After today, we officially have eight school days left with the last day of school being a two-hour early dismissal. Our Mustangs have a lot of fun activities to look forward including our annual luau celebration, field day, end of the school year class parties, 6th grade promotion, and our 4th quarter S.M.I.L.E. Award celebration. Please ensure that your Mustang continues to be at school each day so that they can enjoy all of our fun end of the year events planned.
Next week, we kickoff our "End of the Year Spirit Days!" Please see below for ways your Mustangs can participate in each of them.
Have a nice weekend!
Your Proud Principal,
Mrs. Goddin

- 3rd Grade: 2:15 – 3:15 PM
Please remember these things to make our Field Day Safe and Fun!
How students can be prepared for Field Day?
- Because the weather will likely be warm, students should wear comfortable and cool clothing.
- Some stations will involve water and students may get wet. If students do not want to get wet, they should notify their teacher and not participate. No swimsuits are allowed, but you may bring a change of clothes.
- Students must wear sneaker to participate safely.
- Hats and visors be worn for protection from the sun; as well as sunscreen.
- A full water bottle with their first and last name. No glass containers please. A water station will also be available outside, but we will have a limited amount of cups.
- Please do not bring juice, soda or any drink other than water as it could attract bees.
- Most importantly, be prepared to have FUN!!

The school health room is reminding parents and guardians that all medication stored in the health room must be picked up no later than the student dismissal time on the last day of school. As a friendly reminder, the last day of school is Wednesday, June 17th. Students will be dismissed at 1:30 PM.
Medication left in the health room after that time will be destroyed. It is school policy that medications must be picked up by the parent or guardian. Medication cannot be sent home with your student.
If your student will be enrolled in a summer program sponsored by Fairfax County Public Schools, the existing medication authorization form(s) may be used for the summer program, but you will need to pick up the medication on the last day of school and deliver the medication and completed forms to the summer learning site on the first day of the summer program. Please let the health room know if you would like a copy of the form(s).
Medication authorization forms for next school year may be obtained from the school or online at:
https://www.fcps.edu/resources/student-safety-and-wellness/school-health-services
If you have any questions, please contact your school health room aide, at , or your school public health nurse, Ms. Karin Heller at kheller@fcps.edu.

FCPS values your input as we plan future school calendars. On Friday, June 5, all caregivers and FCPS staff will receive an email from noreply@fcps.edu containing a unique link to complete the FCPS Calendar Survey.
Your feedback matters. Please take a few minutes to share your priorities and perspectives by Monday, June 22, at 11:59 p.m.
Your individual responses will be kept confidential and will not be shared with school staff or used in any way that identifies you or your student. Only aggregate, summary-level results will be reported to the Fairfax County School Board.
If you do not receive a link to the survey or have technical difficulties completing the survey, please contact the FCPS Office of Research and Program Evaluation.
As we enter the final weeks of the school year, Fairfax County Public Schools appreciates your continued partnership in supporting your child’s success. Regular attendance plays an important role in helping students stay engaged in learning, maintain connections with their teachers and peers, and finish the school year strong.
Attending school consistently also helps students build valuable habits such as responsibility, perseverance, and daily routines that support success both in and out of the classroom.
If your child needs to miss school, please remember to report the absence. Full-day absences can be reported in ParentVUE. Families may also report absences by calling the school attendance line or emailing the school-designated attendance address.
If your child is experiencing challenges that are affecting attendance, we are here to help. Please contact your child’s school so staff can partner with you to provide support and resources. Learn more about attendance resources.
Join Fairfax County Public Schools for a free, family-friendly community celebration filled with hands-on STEM, arts, and creative experiences for students of all ages. This year’s Summer Extravaganza takes place on Saturday, June 6, from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., at Woodson High School.
Explore summer learning resources and connect with FCPS offices and community partners. Don’t miss the Student Market and a full day of engaging activities designed to spark learning, growth, and inspiration for the whole family.
For more information, visit the Summer Extravaganza webpage.
Inspire Health Alliance, in partnership with FCPS, will be providing school-required immunizations this summer. Immunizations will be provided at no out-of-pocket cost to students or families. Registering families will be required to provide insurance information, if applicable, but students without insurance may still participate.
Visit the FCPS and Inspire Health Alliance Student Immunization Events webpage for dates, times, and locations. Additional event dates will be made available and shared four to five weeks prior to the event on the webpage. Additional immunization resources are also available.
The FCPS Summer Learning webpage offers ideas and strategies for families to keep students curious until August. Summer is the perfect time to help your student explore new interests, reinforce concepts, and stay engaged!
