Message from Principal Burke

Edison Community,

What a great and busy week it has been here at Edison!

We started the week with Senior Fest, and it was wonderful to see our seniors together celebrating their four years at Edison. Watching them recreate field days from years past, laugh with friends, and simply enjoy being together was a reminder of how special this class truly is. Thank you to Mr. Boyd, Mr. Barber, and Mr. Schlemmer for organizing such a memorable event for our students.

On Wednesday evening, we celebrated our student-athletes at the Varsity Sports Awards ceremony. Our athletes continue to impress us not only with their accomplishments on the field, court, track, and mat, but also with their dedication and success in the classroom. We are incredibly proud of all they have achieved this year.  Thank you to our activities office and all of our coaches for your dedication to our sports teams!

Wednesday night also brought a beautiful evening for baseball as our team competed in the Regional Championship game. While we did not come away with the win, we are excited to see the team continue its season in the first round of the state tournament. Congratulations to our players and coaches on an outstanding season so far.

Over the past two days, our seniors have participated in graduation rehearsals, and tonight is finally the moment they have been working toward. We are ready to watch the Class of 2026 walk across the stage during their final Edison activity. We could not be more proud of everything these students have accomplished during their time here. They have left their mark not only on Edison High School but across Fairfax County through their leadership, advocacy, service, and achievements.

We have officially completed all SOL testing for the year. Thank you to our students, staff, and families for their support throughout the testing season. We will share our school results as they become available.

As our seniors celebrate graduation, our underclassmen are focused on final projects, presentations, and culminating activities over the next week and a half. Please encourage your student to stay engaged, submit any missing work, and communicate with teachers early rather than waiting until the last minute. Final exams begin on June 11, which will also mark the start of our early dismissal schedule.

Last Saturday, it was also a pleasure to welcome our newest cohort of Global STEM Challenges students to Edison. We enjoyed having them visit the building and begin their journey as future Eagles. We are excited to welcome them officially next school year.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. I look forward to seeing many of you at graduation this evening as we celebrate the incredible Class of 2026.

Amanda Burke
Principal
