There is still a ceasefire in the conflict between the US and Iran, technically. That is despite the US striking a port city in southern Iran this week, leading Iran to target an American base in return. The war of words is continuing, too, with both sides engaging in ominous-sounding attacks. But, as our diplomatic correspondent Paul Adams writes, neither side seems to regard the sort of tit-for-tat exchanges we have seen this week as marking a return to all-out war. And behind the scenes, there are signs, albeit tentative ones, that the ceasefire could be extended.
