Dear Mantua families,
We welcomed Fairfax County Park Authority to Mantua this week for our Meaningful Watershed Educational Experience! This hands-on classroom event focuses on investigations into local environmental issues and helps students learn to make connections between the natural world and our human environment. These experiences are critical to learning, as they help students make responsible and thoughtful decisions about the world we live in. Some of our kinder classes learned about teeth cleaning and dental hygiene during a presentation by our school nurses. And students also worked hard to finish up SOL testing this week! We are glad to have that behind us as we focus on a strong finish to the school year!
Next week will be a short academic week due to school holidays and a teacher workday:
Monday, May 25th – Memorial Day holiday; schools and offices closed Tuesday, May 26th – Teacher Workday (Student Holiday) Wednesday, May 27th – School holiday for Eid al-Adha Thursday, May 28th – School Resumes
We wish you a wonderful and safe holiday weekend!
Take good care,
Ms. Shannon, Mrs. Vaughan, Ms. Maurer

Please use the Spotlight Submission Form to share a positive message with them. We will share the messages with them at the end of next week.
This will be our last Staff Spotlight of the year. We thank you so much for encouraging and supporting our staff in this way!
Mantua Field Days Reminders
Field days is one of our most-anticipated days of the year! To make Field Days safe and fun for your student, we have a few friendly reminders as you prepare:
- Have your child wear closed-toed/tennis shoes that day. We want our students to stay safe as they actively run and participate!
- Send your child with a water bottle and sunscreen
- Consider packing a towel and/or change of clothes. Students get very wet during the water games and may need a way to dry off before heading back to class
We want every child to feel they can participate fully and we appreciate your consideration!
In case you missed it in FCPS This Week, the school division shared updates on the following topics:
