A Lion's Tale

Counts

Greetings Laurel Ridge Families,

It has been another thrilling week here at Laurel Ridge! Our halls have been bursting with energy and hands-on learning. Our sixth graders showed incredible teamwork and leadership during their field trip to Hemlock Overlook, while our first graders built unforgettable memories (and some amazing structures!) at the Lego Discovery Center. We also had some extra special, four-legged visitors in fourth grade—Hero Dogs Sadie and Shanna—who stole everyone's hearts. To top it all off, our kindergartners blew us away today with their vibrant, tie-dye-filled Songfest performance. As you can tell, the joy of learning is truly ramping up around here!

Next week will be a bit quieter as we head into a well-deserved long weekend. Please remember that students will not have school Monday through Wednesday, May 25th–27th.  While we love seeing our families enjoy these extended breaks, they also remind us just how crucial every single school day is. Consistent attendance ensures our Lions don't miss out on vital instruction, collaborative projects, and the social bonds built daily in the classroom. Thank you for your continued partnership in making sure your child is here and ready to learn every day school is in session!

When we return, we will be entering the final stretch of the school year, which can sometimes bring big emotions and changing social dynamics for our students. A great tip for checking in with your child during these busy weeks is to shift from asking, "How was your day?" to more specific questions like, "What made you smile today?" or "Who did you play with at recess?" This small shift invites deeper conversation and gives you a wonderful window into their academic progress and friendships.

Enjoy the extended weekend with your families!
