Happy Friday, Panthers!

On Thursday evening, we proudly inducted 100 exceptional students into our National Junior Honor Society (NJHS). We celebrate these remarkable scholars for their academic excellence, leadership, character, service, and commitment to making a positive impact in our school community. Congratulations to each of our inductees on this outstanding achievement!

We will continue with SOL retakes next week. Thank you, parents, for your continued partnership and encouragement as students strive to do their very best and finish the school year strong.

Please be reminded that all medication stored in the health room must be picked up no later than student dismissal on the last day of school, Wednesday, June 17, 2026.  Any medication remaining after that time will be destroyed in accordance with school policy.  Medications must be picked up by a parent or guardian.

Please note: Today, Friday, May 22, is the final day for after-school activities and after-school buses for the 2025–2026 school year.

There will be no school for students Monday, May 25 – Wednesday, May 27, 2026. Students will return on Thursday, May 28, and it will be a “gray” day.

The safety and well-being of our students and staff remain our highest priority each and every day. In order to maintain a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment, I am asking for your partnership and support in reinforcing with your child that school expectations and discipline policies remain in full effect through the remainder of the school year.

Finally, stay connected, Panthers! Be sure to review the remaining school-year events below as we look forward to an exciting and memorable finish to the year.  Take good care and enjoy the long weekend!

STUDENT SERVICES

SOL Score Reporting

Preliminary SOL scores are posted to ParentVUE and StudentVUE, in the ‘Test History’ tab, twice a week. SOL score reports will be posted in ParentVUE under the ‘Documents’ the week of June 8.

Course Request Changes- Rising 8th Graders Only

If you would like to request a change to your child’s 26-27 LHMS course selections, complete this LHMS Course Request Change form by Friday, June 12. This date has been extended to allow families to review their child’s 25-26 SOL scores and make changes based on that data. Elective course requests are not guaranteed, as they are dependent on availability. You may view your child’s current 26-27 course requests in ParentVUE under the ‘Course Request’ tab. Please contact your child’s LHMS counselor with any questions.

Social Emotional Learning with Second Step

In this week’s lesson, students learned about confidence—their belief in their ability to do something—and that there are four sources of confidence. Family conversation starter: Tell your child about a time when you felt confident and then describe a time when you didn’t feel confident or when you increased your confidence. Ask your child what the four sources of confidence are.

AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM

End of After-School Program for the 2025–2026 School Year

As the school year comes to a close, please note that our after-school program will end on Friday, May 22nd. It has been a fantastic year, and we are so thankful for the support of our families and staff who helped make these opportunities possible for our students.

After May 22nd, there will be no late buses or after-school supervision. If a teacher chooses to keep a student after school for extra help or activities, families will need to make arrangements for transportation home.

We appreciate your continued partnership and support throughout the year. Together, we’ve made this a successful and rewarding experience for our students.

Registration for FCPS athletic preparticipation exams (physicals) is now open: APPOINTMENT REGISTRATION

Athletic physicals are coordinated by the certified athletic trainers at our FCPS high schools and are only available at the dates and times indicated.  Students must register in advance and additional information is available through the link above.
